“180″ Movie – The Case Against “Murdering the Unborn Child”

If you are not an Evangelical Christian, you are probably not a fan of Ray Comfort. This man has made a career out of preaching his beliefs on and off the air. 180 is about comparing abortion to the Holocaust. The comparison is sketchy, at best, but my hope is that this documentary will stir up an interesting discussion.

Was the Holocaust wrong? Of course it was. Therefore, you are against abortion and you never even realized it. Simple, right?

Not so fast. This argument is pretty thin in logic but heavy on passion.
Of course, if it takes a few seconds to change someone’s beliefs and have them do a ’180 degree’ shift on stance, then why is this a thirty-three minute documentary? What are the extra 32 minutes for? Ah, watch and decide for yourself if you are convinced.

It’s ok to kill a baby in the womb when; you cannot guarantee for that baby a satisfactory and worthwhile existence as a human being. Since you can never guarantee that, it is always ok to kill a baby in the womb.

    • christian

Then by your logic we should extreminate every person in africa and north korea as we cannot guarantee them a worthwile existence as a human beings. You are fucking insane, every person has the right to life no matter the material state. The only support for abortion is when the cognitive ability is reduced so low by a disease or afflicting syndrome that the person will never be independent from his parents, and still only then the parents should be the ones making the decision since they are the ones who will take the burden of both possibilities.

      • Biffany

So, it is okay to have an abortion if the child will have a severe handicap as it will never be independent from its parents, however, a foetus, who by the way isn’t a baby, is also incapable of living if separated from the mother, yet it shouldn’t be aborted? I fail to see your logic here. A foetus is not a human being isn’t even aware of its own existence. It isn’t right to kill someone like Africans because they are impoverished, but this also does not apply to foetuses either. And what about the mother’s right in all this? A foetus isn’t viable on its own, so it is in the mother’s right to choose! Abortion is not about killing babies, it is about terminating foetuses, it is in no way the same thing.

      • Bruce

How about – its OK to…. does not even come into it.
Having a child is a life altering event. When stupid, immature, extremist christians stop generating guilt and neurosis in people and allow them open and adult communication about sex then the need for abortion will decrease..
The Netherlands is the most open country with regard to its attitudes towards sex and guess what, it has the lowest teen pregnancy rates and abortion rates.
Lets teach young people how to be responsible, lets not vilify sex and those who have it, lets help young people make good choices, lets support women and girls who have unplanned pregnancies in making whatever choice is best for them.
Most significantly lets provide better support for unmarried mothers of all ages and backgrounds so that they dont have to make this difficult choice can have their babies and still enjoy all of the opportunities they would have had without a baby. Until society is prepared to do that it should shut the f up about banning abortion.
How dare you presume to decide what happens to any womans body. You scream about right to life – how about the womans right to life – life is so much more than breath and a heart beat.

  • videoeyes

This Documentary is so full of Sh-t, God this, god that, putting people in a corner with loaded… questions of abortions, referring to the holocaust saying Jesus Christ Died for sins, Hello…the Jews don’t believe in jesus! And another thing; John Wayne Gacy, Jr. was an American serial killer and rapist who sexually assaulted and murdered at least 33 teenage boys….But he was a lovely baby that should have been aborted! What does your Faked up god think of that?

  • brandyv88

all women should have the right to choose .Just because you can have a baby doesn’t mean u want it or should have it .Alot of people nowadays have enough trouble taking care of them selfs an its not fair to bring some one into the world you cant provide for, its just not fair to the kid.Plus theres enough unwanted an impoverish children in the world, were over populated as is.

  • SJ

Comparing these two things is not only for obvious reasons wrong, But i think the thing we all need to remember is that, making that choice is the hardest thing that woman will ever do, it it stays with you, your whole life. No matter how pro-choice you are it still leaves you feeling sick, we should support these women after all they have the right to a good life too. Not comparing them to any sort of murderer or any act of mass violence. Whilst i believe the world must discuss these things. I find it offensive to even encourage people to watch this video.

This documentary disturbed me. Ray kept saying “Baby in the Womb” when in actuality (as shown in his own pic, “Baby at 6 wks, 6 days”) that is not a “Baby”, it is a mass of rudimentary cells. I believe he kept stating this to make these young people think of a born baby and he at one point asked “Would you kill a three month old baby?” These are not three month old babies and of course you wouldn’t. Also his comparison to what Hitler did to fully grown people and children is just inflammatory. I’d like to know what Ray thinks of God’s role in miscarriages in the early weeks? Did God murder these unborn “children” and shouldn’t someone be asking him why? This abortion issue comes down to at what stage does an embryo/mass of cells become a human? I think the best answer is the stage that a pregnancy delivers a being that can survive outside the womb which is usually late in the 2nd trimester and alot of doctors will not perform an abortion at the stage unless there are serious medical issues such as the baby has only a brain stem or some other affliction that it will not be able to sustain life as we know it. It is a sad topic that will never be solved.

    • pro

I have had the privilege of seeing unborn children first hand (in real life, not in a textbook) – as early as 6 weeks old. I can one hundred percent assure anyone that the “fetus” looks NOTHING like what the textbooks showed – and CLEARLY like a very small human being. Any form of abortion is killing another human being…for those ppl who are pro choice – what about the choice of the child? The mother choosing to end the life of the baby for her own reasons – this is akin to a mother choosing to end the life of an infant for her own reasons – which is called murder. What about the father…oh that’s right – the father has no rights too. So no rights for father or baby – only mother.
Sadly, nowadays, the most dangerous time in your life is before you come into the world. Like the many societies that preceded us, we will pay dearly for this – it’s just a matter of time. The clock is ticking.
Wake up people! Stop listening to what the books define as a baby and not a baby, and use your head. If it was you in the womb, Would you want your mom to “get rid of you” because your an inconvenience? Many successful ppl have been inconveniences…
everyone deserves a choice – including daddy and baby! no baby is born with a will to die, but a will to live! Baby is pro life – case closed.

      • sjinacup

prilivege really? thats what you’d call it. I’ve seen a fetus at 7 weeks, doesn’t look human at all. its a pink shrimp with a wee black eye dot.
and you can’t compare an infant and a fetus. I sure as hell would not kill an infant. And the father actually does have rights in the choice, its just that for obvious reasons the women have more say. Everyone does deserve a choice, I chose to be able to work hard so that my future kids will have the best i can give, Not to be a single teenage parent.

        • Wiz

Actually the father has nothing to say in the matter…I know that first hand.
And funny that nobody really has any counter argumentation …just profanity and cursing to offer.
This doc made some valid points…and that’s pissing you off big time.
Everybody uses extreme and emotional cases to argue the point…but the reality is that people use abortion as a convenience, and that is wrong by all means.

          • Laika

I think we can all agree that a fetus is non-sentient, literally cannot make a choice like the mother can, and is alive within the mother literally to the same extent that a tumor is at the six week point. The most important counter-argument, though, and the only one that should matter if you truly think women are human beings worth the same respect as men and with the same basic human rights, is that the human rights of the mother outweigh any that the fetus might have to such a great massive extent that anything she says, whatever she decides is the right choice for herself and/or her family, goes. That’s all that matters. The mother’s right to choose when/how/whether to give birth is all that matters. A grown woman’s or teenager’s rights trump any that a non-sentient cluster of cells might have, end of story.

            • Wiz

Not really, and to equate a fetus to a tumor is just ridiculous…and shows a total lack of any serious argument.
It seems more like you try to push your view with an emotionally amplified rhetoric…like you all accuse the dude in this video of, with his abortion/holocaust comparison.

But the whole difference lays in the miracle of reproduction…that a fetus right from the start holds the entire plan of a fully developed human being…and will just continue to materialize the next 18 years. It’s all there in that blob or tumor or whatever you want to call it. Nothing changes at all during the first weeks or following weeks or years…it’s the same plan that just keeps unfolding from the moment of conception.

The argument that the mother has a right to choose, is a valid one…but that she can only choose in the first few weeks of her pregnancy is just hypocrisy.
Why not let her choose the first 5 years?
Why do people need to kid themselves that it’s not a human being in the early stages? …and what constitutes a human being?
Is the retarded child less human? …Or is Hawking human? He has practically no body…but still a mind. While the retarded child will have a good body but a lesser mind.

No …there’s no end of any story…this will go on for a long time.

          • iBetatheistpissuoff

Lol really okok u have to be kidding. we live in america right? *looks outside* yep. ok so i dont understand what you dont get about A FETUS IS NOT A HUMAN IT DOES NOT MAKE CHOACIES THERFORE IT HAS NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER! nuff said

      • Biffany

Stop listening to what the books say? Then what should I listen to? Insane religious people or people with a desire to control women? I don’t think so. I listen to what science has to say. Why? Because science is based on rigorous logic, not personal opinion.

  • Katarzyna

This is probably the weakest pro-life argumentation I have ever heard. All women should be able to choose, and the right does not mean you HAVE to do this. There was a famous case of a woman in my country who lost her sight because abortion was not allowed in her case. Actually she’s lucky that she still lives. It’s easy to talk about things that don’t concern you and to judge people, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be so easy if it was you who was going to be blind or die at the cost of being a good Christian.

Is this a parody of a terrible documentary or something? Poorest excuse for a documentary I’ve ever seen, and I have seen some terrible documentaries in my time. I’m almost so annoyed by it I’m going to contact the dude who made it and air all my grievances.

    • Biffany

I agree. I found the comparison between abortion and the Holocaust offensive. The logic was really flawed.

      • Rodriguez

No its not flawed, it just happens to be that people donot want to be confronted by the responsibility that such a selfish idea ( the so called pro choice stance ) gives them. It does not have to do with logic but with how sincere are you about your motives.

        • no

The logic is flawed. But, really we are killing humans in the womb. They just don’t realize it.

  • Bruce

This is sick – I had to stop watching it. Am also disappointed it was given attention here.

This Guy…. Just check out the “Ray Comfort Banana Incident” on YTube….hilarious..

    peace

  • apologies

On behalf of the Southern Hemisphere, I wish to apologise for Ray Comfort. We only make up between 10 – 15% of the worlds population but please do not see Mr. Comfort as a spokesperson or representative of our small population. Ray is from New Zealand and although I have never been there, I know a lot of people who have. From all accounts I hear it is a beautiful place with a rich culture and history. The documentary mentioned the 53 million abortions that had occurred in the US alone and I couldn’t help but wonder if the US needed or could even accommodate another 53 million lives when it struggles to look after the 313 odd million it has at the moment.

  • Shmem

I can’t decide who is dumber, the guy asking the questions or the people who all changed their mind about abortion because of his completely illogical and invalid argument!

  • Matt Rose

He’s speaking from a Christian perspective. I don’t have a problem with him making the generalization of “America’s Holocaust” for heaven’s sake 53 millions lives not lived in 30 odd years. Perhaps some day in the future we’ll see it this way and educate our children to see it this way.

    • no

Lives not lived. True. But these lives were unaware. As completely opposed to all the victims of WW2 who were extremely conscious of the pain they were experiencing, and that they were about to lose their lives. The complexity of the situation is being undermined in this documentary. Just b/c the unborn are unaware does that excuse abortion. No. But they are unaware, so as a comparison to all the torture and degradation of adult humans and children in WW2 it is not a fair subject of comparison. We are after all, animals, at the same time we are human. Many factors such as providing for that unborn child must be taken into consideration. Some will chose to bare the child and do the best they can, others will chose not to bc of the factors that will negatively affect their lives and their child’s life. This is inappropriate to be compared to the genocide of a race of aware and conscious beings because of their religion (which customs are harmless).

If patterns of moralistic judgmental egotists continue this guy must have the biggest child porn stash ever assembled.

  • mr i hate the narrater

as a MAN who has been through this i feel i wasent represented in this documentary. who ever made or produced or even narrated this has no idea what it feels to be a dad one minuite and not the next. but i do feel that women do have a choice, but my only concern is that the father is NEVER given the choice. and thats why i think this doc is very bias and only represents the narraters view. i was and will be a dad some day

One word FALLACY!! Also, “It’s okay to have an abortion when” your about to give birth to hitler! hah! eat that fucker! Anyways,, no point getting your panties in a bunch off this doc, realize he’s using fallacies then move on before it annoys the fuck out of you.

  • Cassandra Jenkins

What a silly documentary. A fetus is not a person in the same sense as a Jewish LIVING, breathing, thinking, feeling, dreaming, wishing, autonomous, fully independent human being. I wish this dick wad had interviewed me lol.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lloyd.hendsbee Lloyd Hendsbee

      Only Jews are human???

  • Cassandra Jenkins

“Have you ever looked at a guy with lust?” “No, I’m gay.” LOL!!! Word! Now all we really need to know about this moron is that he’s the same guy who sat next next to Kirk Cameron and declared that the fact that the banana fits perfectly into the human hand (also into the APE hand, Ray!) is proof of gods existence.

This is a lively demonstration of what a sense of the sacred is. A belief in divine justice, a sense of fair play, and the ability to respond to the divine. The good thief on the cross uses each of these, as his great suffering caused him to come to his true self and he became honest with himself. When he became honest, he was then able to see the divine, and in his genuine humility, he asks for what he does not deserve. The Christ obeys His Father’s Command and receives this prodigal son with Love and gives him a Eternal inheritance. This is opposed to the cognitive dissidence this film encountered in people who have no wisdom and are devoid of a sense of fair play, cheaters! Baby John Doe 1709 Operation Rescue

  • oh dear

A Pathetic and offensive comparison. This ‘documentary’ deserves no attention, this man is a joke, and his choice of interviewees proves it.

  • 123Jano123

    Religious crap.

But it show something really alarming. Lots of people have no idea who Hitler was, and what happen in WW2.

btw by his “logic” anyone who supports abortion is as bad as nazi. Which is unbelievably offending and ignorant.

  • JC

What is wrong with the comparison…how is this offensive. It’s only offensive if you believe A. Hitler killing the jews was okay, B. Abortion is okay, C. Both. Call it what you will, but Abortion is murder. Advocates are convincing women that abortion is okay but i’m sure at some point each and every woman will regret her decision.

  • JC

The one kid that said it’s okay for a mother to kill the baby if she can’t take care of it…that’s the same thing that’s happening with people promoting abortion – the system cannot handle the number of people that are being born. The rich aren’t getting richer fast enough – what better way to save money — killing babies and not even having to do it themselves. The mother has been brainwashed to do it themselves and think it’s fine. I have my own kids and could NEVER image anyone destroying their lives, whether they were 2 week in the womb or 5 years out of the womb. A life is a Life!! and there is NO choice. Give the child up for adoption if you cant take care of it…they are not a piece of trash that you just throw away…even trash is sometimes picked up by other people, and to them it’s a treasure!!
