Bedlam – The History of Bethlem Hospital

Bedlam – The History of Bethlem Hospital reveals why Bedlam came to stand for the very idea of madness itself.

It was satirised for centuries as both a ‘human zoo’ and a ‘university of madness’ and for 100 years was one of London’s leading tourist attractions, as Madame Tussauds is today.

Britain’s leading psychiatric historians discuss Bedlam and its inhabitants as we reveal the incredible history of one of U.K’s most notorious institutions.

“So the real freedom of speech was with the mad.”

Very true and they’re also the most truthful of people. You get what you see. The so-called sane are usually the lairs, hypocrites, condescending, cantankerous, etc.

As for the Kings’ mad story… goes to show how amazing the brain is… like a computer it world be filled with information on one day and then it would…on its own… be rebooted only to regain its original information in a few years later.

Fascinating doc…well worth a watch if one has an interest in studying the history of asylums and the people within them. :)

It’s interesting how James Blunt’s debut album was titled “Back to Bedlam” and most of his songs deal with saying goodbye, departing from a loved one, crying, and overall sadness. I see an illuminati connection there. It’s disturbing, and I feel it had something to do with MK Ultra. Just saying.
