    Bodybuilders

Bodybuilders is the most popular bodybuilding documentary that was ever made for television. Of all the bodybuilding documentaries, in terms of popularity, it comes second only to Pumping Iron, which was the documentary that turned Arnold Schwarzenegger into a household name. It also featured the former Incredible Hulk actor, Lou Ferrigno.

Bodybuilders originally was shot and aired as an episode of the Discovery Channel documentary series called On the Inside. This particular episode went into the sport of bodybuilding at the turn of the millennia, bringing light to various depths of bodybuilding that the general public had little awareness of at the time—particularly natural bodybuilding. This episode aired for 8 years on 4 different networks. It inspired thousands of people to achieve greater physiques.

You’d have to admire the discipline it takes (at least without enough steroids to kill an elephant) and at the same pity how obsessive and narcissistic the lifestyle is. How has the sport developed such grotesque standards and why anyone would like to look like a monster?

I’m quite skinny and I workout and eat proteins to gain more muscle, but wouldn’t want even a 1/3 of their mass… Suppose the ideals are subjective and I admire the “Brad Pitt in Fight Club” type :)
