This is a loose documentary about the creative process. Gordon Pinsent is a famous actor who is nearing the end of his life. He has a collection of poems that fall into the hands of two of Canada’s most famous songwriters (Blue Rodeo and The Sadies). They turn his poems into songs.
Here is a very special treat: a rare Leonard Cohen documentary that was made BEFORE his first album. “I can feel myself changing into a completely different kind of man,” Leonard says in the film. A few minutes later, we see him picking up his guitar. Shot years before he became a singer.
These two documentaries, from the huge BBC 11 season series Time Shift, goes in depth with crime litterature and how real life crime becomes the intricate labyrinth of the stories of writers writing crime novels.
