Light Darkness and Colours

Light, Darkness, and Colours takes us through the colours of the universe. Did you know that humans can only see three basic colours in a variation? The mantis shrimp, by comparison, can see in over twelve. Newton wanted to prove that colours existed in light. Goethe found the hidden colours in the boundaries between light and darkness. He felt, as an artist, that one could not talk about light without including darkness. Calling it ‘the light-darkness polarity’, Goethe made this new scientific discovery using artistic methods in conjunction with science.

Enjoy this fascinating documentary about colour.

Will we ever know the colors we do not see? I wonder what colours the shrimp mantis and other animals with keener senses see.
