      This is so stupid; let’s go and colonize Mars and let our initial planet get wasted away by a bunch of primitive humans that think all opinions have equal values.

      Finish taking care of stabilizing the human society here before even considering terra-forming projects of other planets. This makes me wonder how such geniuses can be so oblivious to the most basic realities.

        For a problem to exist, it must represent an inconvenience to SOMEONE. Thus as long as we are on this planet, it will never be perfect or completely stable. Even without humans, in the distant future, Earth’s core will freeze, the magnetosphere will dissipate, and our atmosphere will be pummeled away (and life will die with it). We are on the clock. We can think now, we can plan now, we can move now. I don’t see why not. If people in the middle east would rather kill one another for a barren strip of practical desert, then that is unfortunate but they will not hold the whole human race back.

          I think he/she meant we could be a lot more stable. But we are a literal lot when we choose. Also what clock? Yours? Who gives a crap about the death of anything. It’s not easily defined thought we like to think we control the clock. A bomb could blow out your bum, but most likely won’t any time soon. Yes things will end, but like most space science, that most likely is a long way away. FYI – I am pretty sure I will die before the earth freezes over, or the magnetosphere dissipates. I might get that wrong though, an asteroid may save us a lot of discussion. Mars means nothing to me other then is there life? WTF the middle really got to do with this more then the oil we end up using. Two different arguments.
