Arctic Ocean

The team ventures into one of the world’s most hostile environments, the Arctic Ocean, which plays a crucial role in controlling our climate.

Expedition leader Paul Rose, environmentalist Philippe Cousteau Jr, maritime archaeologist Dr Lucy Blue and marine biologist and oceanographer Tooni Mahto head to this hostile and remote ocean where they plan to dive beneath the polar ice cap to explore how the ice, the dominant feature of this ocean, is shrinking and how this could affect the rest of the world.

The polar bear is threatened by the retreating ice, but it isn’t alone. The team risks diving in sub-zero temperatures to collect samples of the tiny creatures that are the basis of the Arctic’s complex food chain.

As the seas warm, the Atlantic walrus could be a global warming winner, in the short term, and the team attempts to find out why. And they search for a glimpse of the world’s only white whale, the beluga.

    This is disgusting. The divers display a very unprofessional attitude, making believe these small reef sharks were potentially dangerous. Only a small number of shark species are potentially dangerous to humans, and there are professionals even free-diving with those – such as great whites and tiger sharks.
    But worst of all, this repellent is made from MURDER VICTIMS?!?!! Up to 75 MILLION SHARKS PER YEAR are brutally murdered by the shark finning industry! Or they die as by-catch in fishing nets or are in other ways murdered by humans. Most shark species are critically endangered for this reason, some even at the brink of extinction, with population numbers down by up to 97% since the 1970′s! People don’t need to be protected from sharks (the ocean is the sharks’ home, after all – enter at YOUR own risk), but sharks direly need to be protected from humans!!!
