    Secret Pakistan

    Double Crossing

In May this year, US Special Forces shot and killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. Publicly Pakistan is one of America’s closest allies – yet every step of the operation was kept secret from it.

Filmed largely in Pakistan and Afghanistan, this two-part documentary series explores how a supposed ally stands accused by top CIA officers and Western diplomats of causing the deaths of thousands of coalition soldiers in Afghanistan. It is a charge denied by Pakistan’s military establishment, but the documentary makers meet serving Taliban commanders who describe the support they get from Pakistan in terms of weapons, training and a place to hide.

This first episode investigates signs of duplicity that emerged after 9/11 and disturbing intelligence reports after Britain’s forces entered Helmand in 2006.

Released 26 Oct 2011. 60 min. TV documentary.

History always put Christians against the Moslem. Why wonder then why Pakistan is playing double cross.Pakistan is actually benefiting and gaining much in this game. They are extracting money from the Americans and literally fighting them through the taliban. The U.S. and the rest of the west are just too idiot not to take these things in mind. They are fooling themselves. The Pakistani have done nothing wrong! It is in their best interest to act this way!

    • Anthony

C’mon, guys, let’s get a bit realistic about this.

Pakistan wasn’t playing along in the War on Terror? GOOD! They were undermining the interests of NATO and the US in order to uphold their own national interest? GOOD! That’s what they SHOULD do – Pakistan is a sovereign country, not a collection of airfields and bases to be used at the convenience of the UK and US for whatever purpiose they see fit.

None of the countries in that part of the world have a compelling reason to do the bidding of the West and least of all Pakistan. Their entire country was drawn up on a map at a university in the UK 60 years ago … and look what resulted in Kashmire! Pakistanis know as well as anyone how duplicitous the English-speaking world is, and how much suffering is wrought by it’s decisions, handed down from on high. So prioritising local affairs over the wishes of foreigners, who have always proven to be trouble in the past, was the only sensible thing to do. If I were a Pakistani, I certainly wouldn’t see the US Military – and particularly not the British military – as being any less nefarious than the Taliban. So why would I take the side of the ‘Coalition’?

This doco returns again and again to American and English commentators bemoaning the fact that Pakistani intelligence failed in their loyal to the invading forces. How terribly, terribly sad. My gods, can they not see how UTTERLY RIDICULOUS they sound when they say these kinds of things?

It was pure political expediency that compelled politicians in the West to cast Pakistan as an ally. It never represented reality, and we had no reasonable grounds for assuming that they WOULD ally themseles with us. I mean, apart from providing some conditional aid, name three good things the US and UK have ever done for Pakistan.

Was that not obvious from day one? If not, we have to ask ourselves the question: the how freakin’ naive ARE we?

    • Daniel in Boston

Yes, this did fill in all the doubts I had about why the War in Afghanistan was going so sideways … and it vindicated my 25 year stance that Pakistan cannot be trusted! (No wonder the World was interested in sending aid after the tragic floods).
Yassine Abdi, yes, the USA does invade other countries, but it is always 90% f…ked up places, and it is in our national interest to do so … the Brits, the Romans, the Mongols, the Persians, all did it before us, and were not as generous as we are.
BTW, Yassine, Islam has f***ked more countries and believers than we could EVER do … not only violencem but also severe brainwashing … with your awful treatment of women, reading the Coran any way that suits you and having men so emasculated they would strap dynamite just to get 72 virgins?
