    This legend has grown for thousands of years. It is like Noah’s arc and Xanadu. We are so far away from the source of it that we may never know the seed of its birth.
    The most recent and credible lore of Shangri La that I’ve learned is that it alludes to the paradise valley homeland Arya in the ‘knot of the world’ – an area believed to be in Pamir: a range where the Himalayas, Hindu Kush, Tien Shan, Karakoram and Kunlun mountain ranges meet. It was a paradise that may have disappeared due climate change. If this is true, it lies in Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan. Evidence from The Book of Kings of Airan (ancient Iran) supports this.
