The Cuba Prostitution Documentary

The title is a bit misleading. Although this documentary deals with Cuban prostitution, the primary focus is the director’s obsession with beauty, Latina women, and Cuba’s sexual mores.

Meet Andrew Lindy: a man with a camera and sex on his mind. Andrew is a New Yorker who travels the world to capture beauty for various freelance jobs. Andrew chases beauty but he longs for a connection.  On an assignment for ELLE magazine, Andrew travels to Cuba and brings his camera and appetite for women with him.

This is a look at the lack of sexual taboo in Cuba, as well as the financial difficulties that lead to prostitution in some Cubans, for the purpose of survival.

Well done though the ending happened so abruptly, I was hoping there’d be more to the story with the one girl.

  • jostie

This was a saddening documentary. I cannot help but believe you took advantage of of some of these girls. I especially hope you took care of the last girl.

  • Daniel in Boston

Yes, it was a sad story. This man’s sensitivity is very much on a sliding scale – thanks to people such as him, so many of us have a hard time connecting with the locals when abroad. As Jostie said, the girl in this mockumentary is divine: much more down to Earth than most girls her age, classy, cultured, sweet disposition and, do I have to mention how gorgeous she is from first glance … I don’t think he deserves her, then again, can he do better? …

    • Paul

Do you mean ‘can she’ do better?

    • steven

I did’nt fancy her: too bony. Also too cutesy, like a pet monkey or something. I guess that’s what some guys want.

A realization that Cubans are a free spirited people, restricted and confined to an island. Look what it creates.

I’ve never posted on this site before, but after watching just 7 minutes of this prick, I feel the need to do so. What a disgusting human being. There’s so much wrong with this guy, and what he does, I don’t know where to start. Horrible.

  • Achilles

Only watched around 5 minutes of this disgusting filth before shutting it off and a 1* rating (would have gone lower if I could). Talk about a typical LOSER in all and every possible way. Wish that someone would have seen through this “man” while filming and forced him out of the country, if not time in jail. The using of women, in my opinion and as I see many others, is absolutely disgusting. This is NOT a documentary in any way, this is pure trash and filth.

I wonder what will happen to some of these people once the Cuban government sees this video.

  • darryl

cant believe how many virgins have commented on this video.. I agree that it is a bit creepy but he seems like a nice enough guy.. surely its better not to pay for it?!?! also, he was nice to them had fun etc.. dont forget most of them were trying to use him to get money!!!! double standard much?

  • FuegoFuego

The true can be bitter somethimes. But if you prefer the blue pill. Go away from this channel. I catched the essence of your video. I think it´s REALLISTIC. This is going on with him o whoever goes there. But the same concept it´s every where outside the FIRST world. In Thailand, Africa, South America, etc.. You find this situations plenty. Maybe a Globalization (Without privates banks involved) can help so our style of life can reach more people! What do you think? Regards from Sweden!

  • steven

I don’t think anything in this film was even minimally “creepy”. Yes, he’s taking advantage of his relative economic power, but if you live in western europe or north america, you are inevitably guilty of that, whether you have sex with poorer women or not. Our society depends on a global division of labour. So I guess by your own standards you must be just as “creepy”.

Global economic inequality is a fact; it is neither right nor wrong; it is simply the case. I suppose you just could’nt bear living with the injustice? Perhaps you’ve given away all you had to the poor and followed Christ?

Also it is fairly obvious that the film maker was a “normal” “decent” guy, i.e. not manipulative or abusive or anything like that.

    • juan

Come again? You obviously realise that the reason these women are hooking up with him is in large part due to his ‘relative economic power’, and you still don’t think that, and his behaviour in relation to that, is a problem? That that is not ‘creepy’?

Yes global inequality is a fact, but it is not ‘neither right nor wrong’. It is obviously wrong, and it’s obviously wrong to abuse the power that comes with that increased wealth, whether you want to realise it or not. Is it okay for a boss to pressure an employee into sex, due to unspoken power dynamics? It’s the same when you turn up in an incredibly poor country, as someone clearly of superior wealth.
The fact that he thinks these women are hooking up with him due to his ‘charm’ is somewhat sad and pathetic, given he can hardly string a sentence together in Spanish; the fact that he asks, in one instance, if one of the women is a prostitute, not even too her, but to a man nearby, in front of her face, is downright disgusting. He treats the women like objects, and I don’t mean in the way that men and women often objectify each other in western culture, but literally as nothing more than devices… exemplified by the example I cited earlier, where he talks about that one girl in front of her, but not even too her, or the way he grabs (several of) the women on the face and talks about them in the third person; “she’s so…”, etc, etc.
To be honest, though it’s still clearly exploitative, I’d be far less disgusted if he had payed for sex, with actual prostitutes, as at least then there are no illusions about what is going on. What this guy did, is sex tourism, plain and simple, disguised (rather thinly) as a documentary.

      • steven

“Obviously wrong”? As if there’s not even a question? If it’s so obvious, how do you explain the fact that there IS a debate? That ethical issue ARE contentious? Failing to see that there is a question makes it seem that you are chauvinistically, dogmatically attached to what are merely conditioned prejudices.

I dare say that an “egalitarian” human society has never existed. Even in societies in which – owing to shared poverty – economic inequality is minimal, there is still cultural power inequality. How many more millennia before we face up to, and accept, reality?

I repeat my question: is the injustice so unbearable that you’ve given up your privilege? Or is it just too comfy? And the comfiest feeling of all? Sitting amidst privilege AND feeling morally self righteous at the same time. Now THAT’S luxury!

Perhaps the guy was insensitive when he asked if the woman was a prostitute; insensitivity is a typical, ordinary, forgiveable, venial thing to which we flawed and fallible creatures are sometimes prone. The face “grabbing” and use of the third person you mentioned seems like a fairly ordinary gesture of affection. I confess that I would be charmed if a woman was to do a similar thing to me!

That it is “wrong to abuse … power” is true by virtue of meaning; but it is very doubtful that the film maker “abused” his power. That seems like an excessively harsh judgement to me.

I agree that he engaged in sex tourism; but it is far from clear or obvious that he did anything wrong.

The philosophical interlude at 17:10 wasn’t half bad, for a douche bag.

…here is a young guy sexploring while trying to understand a bit more about one aspect of Cuban culture, dog or not,the video was not that bad,and the guy was just a guy, guess that makes me a douche as well ….an exchange of x for X has been going on long before we arrived on the scene, deal with it!

  • K3vinD35

This was a great documentary, especially if he really didn’t have to pay for Sex. I did the same when I was in Cape Town, I had so many whores who wanted me, fucked just 3 but didn’t pay a dime, I simply told them and they knew, I was too good looking to be paying for sex, lol seriously…

  • michel

this same bisiness happens here in the good old USA! Same shyt, different land…

  • Jenni

Wow this was awesome! Your directing was great, though some are somehow “disgusted” by your personality, it’s great what you bring out of those girls, no other personality could have loosened them up like that. I found this doc to be suprisingly touching:) Your editing is awesome as well, keep up the good work
