  • The Real Eve

    The Real Eve

The Real Eve is the title of a popular science book written by Stephen Oppenheimer. This is a documentary based on that book. The book is largely based on the “Out of Africa theory” of human origins.

Oppenheimer uses information from various disciplines including genetics, archeology, anthropology and linguistics to synthesize theories on the origin of modern humans and their subsequent dispersal around the world.

The Eve in the title refers to Mitochondrial Eve, a name used for the most recent common ancestor of all humans in the matrilineal (mother to daughter) line of descent.

Released in 2002. Director: Andrew Piddington. Narrator: Danny Glover. TV documentary.

I think it should be blindingly obvious to everyone that the creation story of the bible just could not have happened in literal terms.

However, this indicates that there may be a basis of truth to the story. A small group of people migrate out of their home ….

Interesting. Who knows, maybe the oral history of our ancestors is the basis of the creation myth.

If this isn’t myth I don’t know what it is. Modern-day scientific myth!

      • ryann

A myth that is substantiated by an archeological trail of finds that leads back to Africa. Not to mention, it is corroborated by a completely different field of science, i.e. genetics. Sorry, but your ignorance does not trump science.
