  • This World: Tea Party America

    This World: Tea Party America

The fastest-growing political movement in the US today is the so-called Tea Party – a right-wing grassroots revolt with hundreds of thousands of supporters and local branches all over the country. Now as the US prepares to vote in crucial mid-term elections, political journalist Andrew Neil is off on a whistle-stop tour of the country to find out what is behind it and why it is spreading like wildfire. The Tea Party wants to change America – but their first target is the Republican Party.

Urged on by the likes of Fox News’ most prominent host, Glenn Beck, and the Tea Party darling Sarah Palin, they are trying to replace established Republican politicians with Tea Party candidates. But as Andrew Neil discovers, their real target is the man in the White House. They believe Obama is an out-and-out socialist and the Federal Government well on the way to what they see as tyranny. This extraordinary eruption of anger is certainly changing the face of America.

This is an animated video of some fish. We are still looking for the full documentary.

        Hi,

I’ve replaced the broken link with a video of some animated fish, and switched it to the documentary trailer category until we’ve found the full documentary. Thanks.

        Hi,

the full documentary is now up and running again. If you have any further issues, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

I would take the Tea Party’s rhetoric far more seriously and sympathetically if their “get government out of our lives!” notions weren’t also blended in with constant demands to barge into people’s private sexual lives.

Couldn’t get through the first two minuets . The socialist slant of the narrator is beyond the pale. To portray the tea party as mindless drones of the likes of Beck is pure leftist propaganda. Don’t waste your time unless that is what you seek.

      • Quixie

I just paused this documentary at the two-minute mark, and I am very perplexed by Vic’s comment above.
These opening two minutes make absolutely no references or appeals that can be rightfully be considered “socialist” in content (I am open to correction, however, Vic — help me out here — which of the narrator’s opening comments did you find “beyond the pale”?).
Moreover, which of his opening comments do you interpret as a relegation to the status of “mindless drones” of the tea party folk?
I find such a vacuous and demonstrably false assertion a bit disturbing.

      @ Andy

The west have been living on the never never for decades…they think it’s their god given right to be entitled to what the advertisers promise them…its not.Taxes havent risen by mistake…its because people have been duped or bought into the ‘dream’. Now its time to pay the piper…suck it up

    • Andy

Well without an end, you don’t know how much is missing. However now it’s complete, it’s worth watching :)
The British guy in the show (forgot his name) does not seem to take the views of the tea party movement seriously in my view. Maybe if he lived over in the USA instead of over here, he might think differently. Glenn Beck, well he has made a lot of money out of playing on peoples fears and being a drama queen.

    • Andy

It’s not complete, it cuts off without an ending, don’t bother watching.

      • Don

I don’t think its unwatchable just because it doesn’t have an end. Its still quite the nice documentary, covering many interesting points!

Fixed, thanks. As you’ll notice, it was the last 20 seconds missing in the video prior to the current one.
