    Working Man’s Death

    Episode 1: Heroes

Today’s manual laborers are no longer celebrated with hymns of praise. They must be content with encouraging one another that backbreaking work is better than no work at all…

In the Ukraine, a group of men spend long days crawling through cramped shafts of illegal coal mines. Sulfur gatherers in Indonesia brave the smoky heat of an active volcano and the treacherous trip back down. Blood, fire and stench are routine for workers at a crowded open-air slaughterhouse in Nigeria. Pakistani men use little more than their bare hands to dismantle an abandoned oil tanker for scrap metal.

Through four episodes Al Jazeera gives us introduction to some of the worst jobs in Nigeria, Pakistan, Ukraine and East Java in Indonesia.

‘Heroes’ looks at freelance miners in Ukraine who spend long days crawling through cramped shafts of exhausted coal mines to dig out a living for themselves.

    Released 2005. Director: Michael Glawogger.

this documentary is incredible .. !!!

thank you for your website, sooo good choices, go on guys, you’re doing great job

Oh i see the other episodes now. Should of just made a playlist.

      • http://www.documentarystorm.com Jonas

We thought it was better to not have them all on one playlist since they’re separate episodes. – I guess it would’ve been easier to spot if they were all on the same page, but that increases loading time for everyone.

Let me know if you have any suggestions on how we can make the episode page numbers more obvious.

        • Docwhore

It’s all good, I just assumed it was over because when you guys link to youtube there’s usually a playlist, or the other videos are right under it.

As for the suggestion, I like how you guys have had it with the vids right underneath for other non youtube streams, but say you had like 10 youtube vids at 5 minutes each, well,, that would suck cause I like to sit back and sometimes pass out to the docs. At the least, for newcomers and what not, I think the links would be better suited in the description, or even a simple note of “veiw links below for further episodes. Perhaps go with the pumpkin orange that you have already going. I dunno, I did find it after all.

We only started putting every episode on its own page a few weeks ago- some documentaries had a lot of episodes, so the loading time was becoming an issue. We definitely won’t be putting any episodes on its own page if it’s very short.

Thanks for the suggestions and your comments on the site! I’ll be making some changes to make the links more visible and putting the links in the description is a good idea. It’ll have to wait until after vacation though!
