Every single one of us can take steps right now to make our planet, our families, and ourselves much better. The purpose of this film is to inspire everybody to choose a healthier lifestyle so we can preserve this planet for the generations to come. In order to understand how we can do this there’s, only one place to go: back to our origins.
Every human on the planet shares a genetic history that connects us to a group of ancient ancestors. Our ancestors understood changes to be the signature of life as it moved around them. They knew how to take advantage of these changes in accordance to their real needs. Currently we live in a world where the media pushes new needs on us everyday. It’s time to take a look at our past to determine what our real needs are. Our ancestors also understood that our relationship with the planet has to be a symbiotic one. But little by little humans have become parasites. We have forgotten that we are a part of the ecosystem, hence we have learned to insulate ourselves and unplug from the planet.
It has been proven that up to 80% of the expression of our genes is determined by the way we eat, move, and think. So it only makes sense that we should pay attention to these three activities.
First of all, as we make healthier food choices we allow our brains, particularly the prefrontal cortex, to develop in such a way that it begins to work better. That part of the brain is in charge of our highest reasoning capabilities. This includes skills such as forethought, judgment, impulse control, organization, and empathy. By doing this we can then be happier, make better decisions, and become more prosperous.
Secondly, it’s a well-documented fact that regular meditation ignites the brain and moves the body into action. If people were to spend a few minutes every day meditating, it would improve both mental and physical health.
Lastly, studies show that there is a higher risk of diabetes and high blood pressure the more time we spend sitting. We need to get up and get into the sunlight. Hiking, swimming, and just spending time with nature can have huge positive effects on our overall health.
